The Sparta Township Fire Department, located in Sussex County, New Jersey was organized in 1923 and incorporated on February 2nd, 1925. Our first chief was Reverend E. S. Ford who served in that capacity from 1923 to 1926.

There are nine pieces of equipment ranging from the chief's vehicle, various fire engines, a rescue truck, and a ladder truck.

The department operates out of three locations: Headquarters on Woodport Road, "Sparta Lake" on Glen Road, and "The Ridge," on Stanhope Road.

The department responds to over 500 calls a year and has over 50 active volunteer members.
